The National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) was bringing together the biggest music show on the planet, presenting the newest innovations, brands and names in the industry January 25-28, 20178· Anaheim Convention Center · Anaheim, CA .
The show was completely redesigned from scratch and provided additional 200,000 square feet.convention floor space for exhibitors, educators and musicians to meet, mingle and have face-to-face conversations in order to discuss business and opportunities.
You could find anything from traditional instruments to the latest digital sound generating software, from woods for making an instrument to studio furniture. Everything that you can possibly imagine that is related to the production of music was there.
The show did not just have vendors presenting their latest products and releases; there were also around 500 educational workshops as well as star performances and an award show. Over the four-day weekend, over 115,000 people visited the NAMM show from all over the world. This makes the world’s largest tradeshow for the music business. Moreover, it’s the best place to network and find out the latest in the industry.
Nearly 7,000 brands and 2,000 exhibiting companies on the NAMM Show Campus presented their latest with products like softwares that allow movement controlled music are among one of the most common. Japanese company Kagura has an AR remix music player that allows user to play music without touching anything. Using the latest camera image processing technology, one can control the music to go up and down simply by your hand motion and also remix music with just the body motion.
Another popular trend is using virtual reality to create and remix music. Survios has a new product called Electronauts which is a virtual reality music creation tool that is designed for music lovers and creator of all ability levels to have a surreal sonic experience where one can remix, compose, jam and perform on uniquely designed electronic instruments.
In the future, one does not need any music instruments to create music. All they need is a computer and some software. One doesn’t even need to train your fingers to hit the right tone. Everything is easily generated by technology. Virtual reality is definitely another big area to enhance the user experience.
As far as education events are concerned, everything is covered from social media to the future of hit song writing. Technology keeps on changing but the core of music has not. It all starts with a good tune. One has to be ready for the limelight and not just a demo. Be on top of the game and always have a good story - a good story in your music and for your music.
The NAMM show is definately a must-attend event for everyone who want to stay ahead of the curve.
